Last Saturday Citrne sang at the Highland games at Thanksgiving Point. It was soooooo cold! It felt like it was going to rain all day. We sang under the same pavillion as the food vendors. It pretty much garunteed us an audience. We sang at 10 am and 1 pm. The first show had almost no one there watching us. The festival had just opened and people were still setting up. It was a great warm up for us.
The second show had a packed crowd because it was lunch time and the lines for food were really long. People sure seemed to enjoy what they were hearing though. One giant man in a kilt actually called out requests! Then he sang along with us. It was fun to see him enjoying the music.

The games themselves were really fun to see. I walked around al ittle bit between shows. Each Scottish clan sets up there own booth. Many just have a bit of the clan history, some have things for sale, others have things to do. I called my dad to double check which clan we belong to. We are a sub-sect of the MACKAY clan.
I stopped by the MACKAY tent and talked to the guy there. He gave me a brief but colorful history of the clan colors and the how our tartan has evolved. It was fun to hear.
So today I will be grateful for family history and the unexpected places where you find family.
